How drugs affect our brain and behavior

The drugs are very dangerous, some more than others, this is due to the place of our body where they attack substances. The drugs attack the brain in different areas, so it is distributed throughout the cortex or as sub cortical structures; these modulate or change motor control, memory, mood, motivation or metabolic status.

However, about drug use, the Cannabis can be a causal component in the appearance of psychosis, that is why patients with proximity to schizophrenia are advised not to consume it to avoid a crisis, in fact, the THC (component present in all types of cannabis) is the cause of effects such as transient psychotic symptoms, cognitive deficits and psycho physiological alterations.

About a stronger drug such as LSD, is the case of Roger Keith Barrett, known as Syd Barrett, deceased member of the British band Pink Floyd, from him we can say that his father died when he was 16 years old, which marked his personality; by the time the Pink Floyd band had more audiences, Barrett’s drug problems (especially LSD) were evident, ruining some of the group's performances with unfortunate episodes, not forgetting the famous collapse that Barrett suffered in an interview for an American television network during the first Pink Floyd tour in the United States in late 1967.
